Unearthing the Future: Human Dialogue is Mining’s Most Valuable Resource

Unearthing the Future: Human Dialogue is Mining’s Most Valuable Resource

Excited to speak at the Canadian Institute of Mining (CIM) on January 15 about a vital but often underestimated factor in the success of resource extraction: the power of communication. As the demand for critical minerals like lithium, copper, and cobalt grows, mining companies face a unique challenge—competing for trust in an increasingly crowded attention economy.

In this era of instant information, mining’s ability to thrive depends on how well companies communicate their value, address misconceptions, and connect with the public. My talk will explore how strategic, transparent communication can reshape perceptions, highlight mining’s essential role in modern industries, and ensure companies stay relevant and respected in the global conversation.

With over 20 years of experience in global resource development communications across 25+ countries, I’ll share insights into how the human element—dialogue, trust, and storytelling—can secure the future of mining in a competitive and rapidly evolving landscape. Let’s talk about what’s next for this vital industry!
