UNDO Named Top 20 Finalist for $100M XPRIZE?

We are thrilled to announce that UNDO has been selected as 1 of 20 finalists for the $100 million XPRIZE Carbon Removal.

Funded by the Musk Foundation, this competition is the largest incentive prize in history and received more than 1,300 applications from innovative carbon dioxide removal companies around the world. To win the grand prize, teams must demonstrate a working solution that removes at least 1,000 tonnes of CO? annually and show a pathway to achieving gigatonne scale removal. The winners will be announced on Earth Day 2025, with the grand prize winner receiving $50 million.?

A prize of this size would be truly catalytic for UNDO and the field of enhanced rock weathering (ERW). With it, we would amplify our research through lab and field-based trials and ramp up our global operations, making a greater impact on climate change at pace. For now, we are looking forward to putting our science on display for the XPRIZE team and are confident that our pathway to gigatonne scale via basalt will give us a good shot at part of this distinguished prize.

Field Notes

Join Amy Frew, our dedicated Field Technician, for the third blog in our science and MRV series - The Importance of Weather in Enhanced Rock Weathering.

Amy shares her firsthand experiences with the unpredictable Scottish weather and its impact on our ERW trials. Growing up in the southwest of Scotland, Amy is no stranger to turbulent weather, but nothing prepared her for the challenges she faced during her first year with UNDO. From battling record-breaking heatwaves, devastating storms and frozen soil, Amy's journey highlights the critical role weather plays in our climate solutions. Despite these challenges, the team's resilience and innovative approaches, such as installing new irrigation systems and macro-rhizon samplers, enabled them to adapt and continue their crucial work.

Enhancing Your Carbon Portfolio with High-Integrity Offsetting

In our latest blog, we explore the essential concept of additionality in carbon offsetting, which is key to ensuring that environmental projects deliver real, measurable benefits beyond what would naturally occur.

By adhering to rigorous evaluation criteria, such as eligibility standards, barrier analysis and common practice assessments, we demonstrate how supporting high-integrity projects like ERW can elevate your carbon portfolio. For example, ERW demonstrates additionality by not only sequestering CO? but also through its co-benefits of enhanced soil health and boosted agricultural productivity. Discover how additionality ensures that your investments in carbon offsetting drive genuine climate action and position your business at the forefront of sustainability.
