UNDO Impact Update | April
Field Notes
This April, our Science, Research and Innovation Team visited our Ontario-based partner, Canadian Wollastonite. There, they ensured our monitoring sites were ready for continued delivery and met with farmers enjoying the benefits of our crushed wollastonite.
It’s critical to gather high-quality data from our overseas operations, so we met onsite with the environmental contractors who conduct our sampling to ensure proper training and quality control of our measurement processes. The team also folded in check-ins with our academic partners at Queen's University and the University of Guelph. These university collaborations are helping us refine our MRV method development and planning for future intensive monitoring sites in the region. It was a fantastic trip that has set us up for prolonged success as we implement our monitoring programme in Canada and around the world.
Presenting at the European Geosciences Union
UNDO Research Lead Kirstine Skov was selected to give a highlighted talk at the European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly in Vienna, the largest and most prominent European geosciences event with 20,000 scientists attending each year.
As lead author on UNDO’s first peer-reviewed research paper ‘Initial Agronomic Benefits of Enhanced Weathering Using Basalt,’ Kirstine discussed how our science team’s research fills a critical knowledge gap on enhanced rock weathering in a temperate climate.
Attending ERW24 at Yale University
The second annual enhanced rock weathering conference was held at Yale University in late April, bringing together researchers, academics and project developers to collaborate and share the latest developments in the sector.
Jim and key members of our science team attended to present posters on UNDO’s tech and weathering data. UNDO’s global operations are enabled by the collection of high-quality data from our contractor community and operational partners. Our Site-Automatic Data Logger (SADL) allows us to use a GPS tracker to improve the collection of operational data and increase our efficiency - another first from our incredible tech team. It was great to share how UNDO’s hardware and software are leading the charge on this front.

Our science series continues with ‘Navigating the Financial and Logistical Challenges of MRV.’
Written by our Director of Innovation, Rob Palmer, this blog tackles the tough task of implementing a nature-based carbon dioxide removal solution. How is UNDO accurately measuring the seemingly immeasurable? What does it take to implement the best available science around the world? And how do we make the whole operation economically viable? Delve into our field trials, scientific approach and the importance of data in this latest instalment.
