Lean :?A road map to achieve Zero wastage.

Lean Manufacturing is a set of tools and methodologies that aims for the continuous elimination

Of all waste in the production process.

?

Main kind of wastage:

0verproduction = line imbalanced line set front output 600 but back output 1200.

Labor Waste= Doing unnecessary operation.

Waste from Transportation=Poor plan layout.

Space Waste=Poor work place.

Product Defect=Week process control.

Material Waste=below standard material.

Waiting = Time waste / Poor machine maintenance.

Lean Manufacturing Tools & Methodologies:

?

  1. Value stream mapping: two maps –present state “how it is & future state “how it should be”
  2. Quality at the source “ Quality at source means Quality should be built into the production process”
  3. 5S “A safe, clean, neat, arrangement of the workplace provides a specific location for everything, and eliminates anything not required”.

4.Batch Size Reduction: “Smaller batch sizes mean less works-in-progress”.
