Understanding Your Value: Insights from an Event Industry Leader

As an event planner, I have witnessed firsthand the importance of understanding one's value in the industry. Whether you are just starting your journey or have been in the business for years, recognizing and embracing your worth is crucial for both personal and professional growth. If you want to make a BIG IMPACT, then you must bring to the table BIG VALUE. When you are able to build a business or earn a living off your creative skills, my suggestion is understanding the value of what you bring to the table.?Whether this is the value you provide in your business, industry, job, or at home is a critical contribution to your self-worth.?There’s only one you!

Early on in my career I understood the value of my creativity. Without me having the realization of the value that I bring to my industry, there is no way I would have been able to have a sustaining career and business. My creativity and imagination are skills that created a unique advantage for me. Which was is a complete asset in my industry.

I obtained the?ability to transform visions and ideas into tangible experiences.?Paired with my determination and skills to pull together a team and execute... I had something special.? It's important to recognize the unique qualities you have and make sure you are highlighting your strengths in your business, job and industry.?But it doesn't stop there, if you are not valuing those talents and abilities you have, you will not reach your potential.

As a?small business?owner, it is important to know your worth for a number of reasons. First, if you do not know your worth, you cannot charge what you are worth and you will not be able to make a profit. Second, if you do not know your worth, you may be taken advantage of by suppliers, customers, or employees. You may be selling yourself short and missing out on opportunities to grow your business. I have witnessed firsthand the importance of understanding one's value in the industry.

Whether you are just starting your journey or have been in the business for years, recognizing and embracing your worth is crucial for both personal and professional growth.?While charging competitive rates and earning a living are important, the true value lies in the unique skills, expertise, and experiences you bring to the table. It is a combination of your creativity, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills that sets you apart.

The finite resource of time is one that you don’t have to waste. Unlike other resources that can be replenished, time once spent is gone forever.
