Understanding Your Australia Visa Options

Hello everybody – We hope you had a great week!

It has been a busy week for our team as Australian companies commence their new recruitment campaigns, seeking new overseas candidates following a short pause over the Christmas break!

It's also been pretty warm, with the weather expected to hit 34 Celsius or 94 Fahrenheit this afternoon. Given that it's now Friday (here in Australia, at least), a cold beer and a swim are certainly in my future. Still, there is much work to do first!

Onto this week's topic

Last week's newsletter covered six things to consider before moving to Australia. It's an important topic as it covers several considerations about whether a move to Australia is really for you.

This week's newsletter will cover a free tool to help you better pinpoint the most appropriate Australian visa for you.

Although a sponsored visa (the focus of our company) may be an excellent option for you, many other visa options do not require a sponsor.

Not needing a sponsor may be an attractive option for people seeking greater flexibility around where they may choose to live or whom they should work for).

The Australian Governments Visa Finder tool

Whatever approach you take, you will need a visa before visiting Australia, so the first step in emigrating to Australia is to determine your eligibility for a visa. If you want to move to Australia, where to start can be very overwhelming.

In fact, did you know there are over 120 different visa options available to support a move to Australia? ??

Thankfully, several tools and forums are available to help you, and a great starting point is an official tool made available by the Australian Migration Department.

The Australian Visa finder tool is available via the Government's Department of Home Affairs website here: Australia Visa Finder.

This tool is designed to help people looking for an Australia visa find the best visa option based on their circumstances and needs. The website also contains information on visa requirements, application processes, and available visa options.

It's quite an intuitive tool; however, if you need a hand finding your way around it, you can find a detailed user guide by clicking here: Australia Visa Finder User Guide.

Getting Sponsored to move to Australia

Given that this is the focus of our company, we should speak specifically to the sponsored visa options. A company-sponsored visa can be secured by applying for a job offering Sponsorship. You can find these jobs via our website at 482jobs.com.

If an employer sponsors you, in most cases, it will be via a visa referred to as the Temporary Skilled Shortage (TSS) Visa, also referred to as the Subclass 482 Visa (hence the name of our website at 482jobs.com)

Sponsorship can be an attractive option because sponsored applications are usually given priority over non-sponsored applications. The company that is sponsoring you will also do a lot of the work associated with securing a sponsored visa, so it is a much simpler process for those who would prefer a little more external guidance with the process.

Finally, if you are sponsored, you can continue to seek alternative Visa options once you arrive in Australia. We have written a more detailed article on our website titled: How to find and secure a sponsored job in Australia should you need more detailed information on securing a sponsored position.

How is the Australian Sponsored Job Market Looking?

Following a suggestion from one of our readers (thank you, Maggie), we'll look to periodically include a brief note on the Australian-sponsored job market in future newsletters.

In general terms, the Australian job market looks pretty healthy, with an unemployment rate of only 3.5%. This low unemployment rate is good news for people seeking sponsorship from outside Australia, as the number of people looking for work in Australia (your competition) is relatively low.

We did see a significant drop in new job volumes as we headed into the Christmas break. This was expected as a large part of the Australian recruitment population tends to wind down from the 20th of December to the 3rd of January.

Since the second week in January, sponsored job opportunities have started to return to Pre-Christmas levels, with a large volume of opportunities added to our database in the past week.

We expect many more opportunities for those looking to start a new life in Australia. As usual, healthcare and hospitality are the key industries, but we are also seeing some good opportunities for hairdressers, mechanics and other trades.

Please feel free to share your feedback, comments or suggestions below.

See you next week! ??
