Mohan's Early Morning Routine and Its Impact
?
Mohan arrived at the office at 8:40 a.m., well before the official start time of 9 a.m. He had already dropped off his daughter at school and prepared himself for the workday. As his colleagues started trickling in around 8:55 a.m., Mohan was already deep into his tasks, looking fresh and energetic.
?
Around 9:30 a.m., his colleague Mahesh rushed in, appearing dull, tired, and hassled. Noticing Mohan's composed demeaner, Mahesh exclaimed, "How do you manage to come to the office so early every day and still look so refreshed? The day has just begun, and I'm already feeling exhausted from the morning chaos of work, traffic, and responsibilities."
?
Mohan smiled and simply replied, "It's because I work out every day."
?
Mahesh was surprised, "You work out? Are you telling me that you exercise in the morning and still manage to arrive early at the office?"
?
"Exactly," Mohan affirmed with a smile.
?
As they worked, Mahesh couldn't shake his curiosity about Mohan's routine. During lunchtime, he approached Mohan and asked him to explain what he meant by "working out almost every day," which allowed him to be punctual and energetic.
?
Mohan eagerly shared his routine: "You see, I've programmed my mind to work out in the morning. I sleep early and keep my running shoes and clothes within sight before bed. I wake up around 5:00 - 5:30 a.m. and go for a 40-45 minute walk. I'm usually back home by 6:30 a.m., where I help my daughter get ready and have breakfast with her. This gives me quality time with her when she's fresh after waking up. I leave home around 7:45 a.m., drop her off at school by 8:20 a.m., and then head to the office."
?
"The reason I'm sharing this routine is that working out in the morning doubles my mental and physical energy, keeping me active, fresh, and motivated throughout the day. There's less chance of irritation or stress when I'm early and can interact with my family members or colleagues without rushing. Additionally, I beat the peak traffic since we live in Delhi, where it starts building up around 8 a.m."
?
As they were talking, Mahesh's phone rang with a worried voice on the other end – his wife informing him that his father had been in an accident. Mahesh immediately rushed to the hospital, with Mohan accompanying him. After the hectic and frantic activities, they sat outside the ICU, and Mohan bought Mahesh coffee and snacks, noticing his drained appearance.

Grateful for Mohan's gesture, Mahesh asked, "How do you maintain such a balanced energy level throughout the day?"
?
Mohan, though not smiling now, calmly reiterated, "Because I work out every day."
?
A few days later, after Mahesh's father returned home and was doing better, Mahesh approached Mohan, seeking the secret to his highly energetic and balanced lifestyle.
?
Mohan explained, "You see, our body is our biggest asset. You count your home, car, and bank balance as assets because you've worked hard to acquire them. But your most valuable asset is your BODY, which you received for FREE and often fail to value appropriately."
?
"Your body is the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the journey called LIFE. It's your most valuable possession. Take care of it and invest your time and energy to keep it healthy, energetic, and positive."
?
"I know you have high blood pressure and diabetes, and you're aware that you need to moderate your lifestyle by incorporating exercise as a daily routine. If you can't find the motivation to do it every day, practice yoga or meditation on those days. But give your undivided 40-45 minutes every day to this priceless SPV, your body."
?
"If you're struggling to form a habit, that's okay. As long as you keep it in your daily routine, it will soon become a habit, and you'll have the same or perhaps even more energy throughout the day."
?
Mahesh, enlightened by Mohan's perspective, responded, "I never thought about it that way before. What you're saying makes a lot of sense, and I'll try to start tomorrow."
?
Mohan reassured him, "I'll call you tomorrow morning at 5:45 a.m. Keep your workout gear (shoes and clothes) ready tonight, and try to sleep by 10 p.m."
?
As they parted ways, both felt content – Mohan for convincing Mahesh to start prioritizing his health, and Mahesh for gaining a newfound perspective on treating his body as an invaluable SPV.?
