Understanding the Use and Importance of Different XMODE Values while Executing a BI Report

In one of the previous article titled Executing a fusion cloud bi report by a simple click on springboard icon we have seen how can me run a BI Report from a simple click on navigator icon. One major limitation of that approach is that the end-user gets access to the BI Catalog Server and he may add/edit and even delete other catalog components. As such it is desired that while the end user should be able to consume the report he/she should not be able to have access to any of the Report Metadata.

In this post we would demonstrate how we can accomplish this by making use of “XMODE” property.

Thanks Ashish. But there is another shortcut to do it instead of writing complex EL expression. Go to BI administration link which appears on top of catalog page and scroll down and Click on Home button and security. Here we get the option to keep Home, Catalog and other administrative buttons. By default it will be available for all users and as per your requirement if you change Access Denied for BI Consumer Role then it will be hidden for all business user except who has an BI Admin role. Hope it will solve the issue. Looking for your suggestion and shortcoming of this approach.

Hi Ashish Thanks for the Informative post However it shows redundant data while clicking on “Click here” link. Appreciate if that can be sorted
