Understanding the Thin Line Between Binge Drinking and a "Great Night"

I used to find myself eagerly anticipating the weekend or even just the end of the day as my addiction progressed.

Just the thought of that first drink or hit of a drug would send my senses into overdrive.

Today, let's talk about the difference between binge drinking and having a GREAT night.

Perhaps you've caught yourself saying:

“I'm going to hit it hard tonight.”

“I'm going to have some fun.”

“Tonight's going to be GREAT.”

I couldn't wait for that supposedly "great" time that lay just ahead.

But with the excitement, there lingered a sense of entrapment.

Why did I feel this way?

Why was there always a part of me that thought, "Shit, not again"?

I was gradually approaching the point of no return, and those around me began to notice.

The essence of addiction lies in the surge of dopamine that floods the brain in anticipation of that next drink, drug, or whatever form of escape you seek.

Once the cycle begins, it's near impossible to break free.

The nature of this dopamine flood is that you will believe anything you tell yourself at the time (of the flood) to get that next drink.

You convince yourself that you're on the brink of a great time, when in reality, you're sealing your own fate with each passing moment.

How many nails does your coffin need before it's time for the funeral?

I came very close to that point. But I managed to crawl my way out, so you don't have to suffer the same fate.

If you find yourself navigating treacherous waters, on the verge of being consumed by addiction, let's talk.

I've assisted thousands of finance executives in taking control of their problematic behaviours in just 10 weeks or less.
