Understanding the Problem

Change. We very often face problems where we need to change our selves to be able to face the problem and to be able to find solutions.
Change is about adaptability. Adapting yourself to the situation at hand, to the people that you deal and to the problem-solving process. I solve problems. That’s my job. Every day is a new problem with some long standing problems that sometimes takes months or years to solve. In a civilized world, we call these problems – projects, in my private moments, I call it something else!
But – how do we do it? How do we go from insurmountable to understanding the problem? It comes down to information. Information is more than power, it’s a path to understanding. Gathering information is a process and involves various sources of data, like research – web based or other. Like speaking to people who have been through it before and learning from their experience – industry experts, understanding leading practice etc etc. So gathering information is always your first step, And you don’t stop until you understand the problem perfectly. You should be able to see the problem from every conceivable angle, and when you do – finding a solution for it becomes a moot point.
When a solution seems impossible, go back to the problem. You still don’t understand it well enough.
