This was such an eye-opening discourse about risks, fears, and skydiving with World Record skydiver,?Jim?McCormick!

With multiple world records under his belt,?Jim?is best known for his expertise in intelligent risk-taking and innovation as a professional skydiver. He was a member of an international expedition that skydiver to the North Pole. His book, "The Power of Risk - How Intelligent Choices Will Make You More Successful" was a finalist in the career category of the Next Generation Indie Book Awards in 2009, while "The First Time Manager" was a finalist for the Management Book of the Year awards from the Chartered Management Institute.

Darius: “I have a neighbor that lives two doors down for me. And he's a famous guy in Austin and the number one pitmaster in the country. His name's Aaron Franklin. I had a conversation with him and I said, 'How'd you get into barbecue?' He said, 'You know, I didn't find barbecue, barbecue found me.' And I'm like, it sounds like you didn't find skydiving, skydiving found you.”

Jim: "If you see the negative connotation of risk, you are aligned with a balanced society. If you see a positive connotation to risk, you are an outlier. Both are important insights."

Darius: “When we start looking at the data, because I think that's where it's really important, people take risks all the time. There's tons of risk out there right now, with people getting COVID, or vaccinations or driving their car on the road, or walking down the street. We take risks all the time, and a lot of it is blind, and a lot of it we don't think about, but there's risk in living.”

Jim: "The premise is, we all have fears in our lives, we are born with an innate fear of falling. And so my thought was, as we all know if we do something that every cell in our body says is a bad idea and prevail, then it's a confidence builder."
