Understanding the objectives

Understanding the objectives

For 20 years of my life I was a DJ.

If you ask people what a DJ is for, in general the answer you get is always related to making people have fun. And yes, that's part of the purpose of being a DJ, but it's certainly not your main purpose.

If you do an analysis of how a venue (Bar, Club, whatever) works, the basis of it all is a transactional objective related to the consumption of drinks of all kinds. That's where the tipping point comes in: if you don't sell drinks, the place shuts down (and you lose your job and damage your professional brand). And that's it.

So the DJ's goal really is to understand the public, and to use the tools at hand to keep the bar counter "alive"

Of course, there are many (really fascinating) ways to do this, although this is not the place to tell these stories. The important thing, in this case, is to understand what the goal of what you are doing is. Are you sure that the goals you are setting are aligned with reality?

One of the ways that I think can help us understand the deeper goal of a project is to ask yourself "What does success look like?" I know that this sound very corporate-speak, but I have not been able to find a better question. Ideas?

Deep understanding… …to understand what the goal of what you are doing is. Are you sure that the goals you are setting are aligned with reality?…
