Understanding NFTs

What is an NFT? Well, isn't this the million-dollar question these days?

NFT stands for a non-fungible token, a digital asset that can't be copied or subdivided. That digital asset could be art, music, a video — it could be anything! However, as it's recorded on the blockchain, you can validate its authenticity.?

If you had no clue about any of these words I just explained, don't worry because many of us joining the space right now are still learning about NFTs together because of the smart contracts that NFTs are created on.?

There are all sorts of possibilities for what NFTs can be in the future! An NFT could be used as a ticket to a live event, access to a premium experience, or even meeting your favorite celebrity or personality.?

I have to confess, the first time that I've minted an NFT — it was so complicated, it took me hours! I felt like I needed a PhD through it all, but when I reached the process at the end, it wasn't so bad. Allow me to take you through some practical steps to understanding NFTs.

?? The preparations to download the tools you'll need to store your NFT are harder than minting and holding the NFT itself. First, you'll need a wallet. I use a MetaMask wallet that's a popular one, but there are tons of wallets out there that you can research to hold and store your NFTs. I found that joining Discord, an online community of people who love crypto and talk about NFTs will help give you the proper support and information.

??When you're a beginner and in a rush trying to get an NFT, it's very easy to get scammed. Check out my video on how NOT to get scammed while purchasing NFTs.

Find a community that you can resonate with, especially those who have a passion for social good. ?Like OnChain Monkey, their community supports many initiatives fighting climate change, saving the oceans, promoting clean water, and more. They do it through NFT auctions, community support, donations, and asset collections.

Curious Addy's Trading Club, which I highly recommend checking out. It's a fantastic Discord community, especially for people new to crypto and NFTs. Don't be embarrassed to do that and feel like you're asking amateur hour questions because there's never harm in asking beginner questions, especially going through these processes.?
