Understanding the LinkedIn Algorithms is not Enough!
LinkedIn is the social media platform for the business professional focusing on B2B sales to grow their business.
This has been said many times and the statistics available as to the successes achieved to date is available.
I have always claimed that LinkedIn technical layouts and structures is a dead give away as to how to use the platform effectively, even more so than to try and understand the algorithms which will only ever be based on speculation.
When LinkedIn started changing and adding features in 2020 and 2021, I realized that LinkedIn, as a company, is preparing the platform for an expected increase of new users based on the increase of businesses adopting online work methodologies.
For us that have been using LinkedIn for the last 17 years this was great news.
LinkedIn changes added a number of additional and improved options to streamline our daily marketing activities, saving time and effort.
In today’s article I highlight a few of these additions that made a huge difference in our attempts to be known and be found on LinkedIn.
LinkedIn's New Look
LinkedIn has changed the look and feel focusing on: -
1.?????Rounded Corners
2.?????More white space
3.?????Less divider lines and decorative icons
Your information now is clearer, much more detailed and the various sections stands out, enabling visitors to notice your about and experience sections easily.
Adding more white space is helpful in that adding media, images, and videos, adds colour which enhance brand awareness opportunities.
Advantage: Your LinkedIn Profile and Page can support or even replace your website. More so, it becomes an interactive landing page driving traffic to all the information, your prospects, your leads, and your clients need to learn more about you, your services, and products, affording them the opportunity to make informed decisions.
LinkedIn 30 Second Video
The purpose of the 30 second video is help people to pronounce your name. When people in general is not familiar with your name you can assist by guiding them as to how to pronounce your name the correct way. As an example, most people pronounce my name as ‘Davis’ instead of ‘Davies’ but when I record my name it can eliminate some embarrassing moments.
You know what I mean, nobody wants to be corrected when they just met you for the first time.
The 30 second video can also be used as a quick promotion tool highlighting the pain you solve for others.
Consider the message below as a quick introduction:
“Thank you for the visit. Tilly Davies here to help you gain more highly targeted LinkedIn leads. Let’s connect and talk”
Advantage: Gain more exposure while creating an opportunity to connect on a deeper level with more understanding.
LinkedIn Creator Mode
Creator mode opens more features, more opportunities to build know, like, and trust relationships. The main purpose of creator mode is to expose your content, hence the name.
Two main features of creator mode that I find most value in is:
1.?????Newsletter
2.?????LinkedIn Live
The LinkedIn Newsletter is like the all too familiar email marketing newsletter, except now it is an interactive newsletter. Your readers can comment, like or even share your newsletter.

LinkedIn Lives will give access to full webinar-like functionality without the technical or marketing challenges. It is easy to get your followers to engage and learn from you while affording you the opportunity to gain an understanding of their needs.
Advantage: Creator mode enables engagement with potential clients positioning you as an authority highlighting the solutions you have for their challenges. The option to subscribe to your Newsletter and LinkedIn Live Event ensuring that your content will be viewed on LinkedIn as well as the subscribers email inbox.
LinkedIn Messaging
LinkedIn messaging, when done correctly, is a great way to build relationships and gain an understanding of your ideal clients needs. A practice to use messaging as a vehicle to push product or service information will only leave you empty handed, frustrated, and branded as a ‘spammer’.
Even though the LinkedIn messaging inbox is lacking messaging management functionality it is still a great engagement option.
Once you selected the messaging menu option simply click on the video icon at the top. Now select your service provider, Zoom or Microsoft Teams, for the video chat and login. You can create and instant meeting or schedule a time as agreed with the ideal client. The link to access the video chat will be available in the LinkedIn Inbox and will also be emailed to you and the ideal client.
Advantage: The addition to create a Video Call on the platform of your choice has opened opportunities to schedule meetings without leaving LinkedIn or access other third-party software like Calendly.

The LinkedIn Changes opened more options to use LinkedIn as a B2B Marketing Tool.
It has never been easier for your brand to be found and to engage with your ideal clients. But it has never been harder to be trusted and viewed as the solution of choice.
The competition is fierce as LinkedIn is becoming a very busy marketplace.
I predict that for 2022 using LinkedIn just as a social media platform with well designed outreach campaign will be highly ineffective.
A LinkedIn account makeover that focuses more on inbound (attraction) marketing is going to be the game changer.
