Understanding Forensic Mental Health Evaluations
Forensic mental health evaluations conducted by an unbiased expert are a key component of any criminal law practice. A large portion of the incarcerated population suffer from some form of mental illness. Many people find themselves intersecting with the criminal justice system solely because of their mental illness.
Forensic mental health evaluations include examinations of not guilty by reason of insanity defenses, competency, developmental disability, malingering, mental health diversion and much more. Anyone practicing criminal law can benefit from understanding these evaluations.
This Wednesday, I will share an understanding of mental health evaluations based on my years of practice at the Riverside County Bar Association. Tomorrow is the last day to register for this training.
Please reach out to me if you’d like the details for attending.
