Understanding FLOW and moving away from the terms of STRESS Management & TIME Management

In doing so, our shift and focus becomes STATE Management and getting into FLOW! Flow is understanding our physical and mental self. It’s about creating new habits and changing our brain to think and act differently.

Anger and reactiveness are often viewed as habits (behaviours), but neuroscience and medical research now suggest that more often they are neurological responses (emotional triggers) activated within the pre-frontal cortex of the brain. Contemporary Neuroscience research also suggests that we can change mental behaviours to create more flow and balance in our lives, teams and workplaces!

FLOW is about the capacity to PIVOT! To make a conscious change of direction, to understand the impact of your beliefs and behaviours (approach).

  • The end goal of practice and realising personal FLOW is SELF Care.
  • When your grounded and not reactive, you can calm and ground people around you.
  • Typically, as a result you can see different situations more clearly and pragmatically.
  • You ultimately make better and less reactive decisions.

FLOW creates an optimal state of human consciousness which helps to improve (increase) wellbeing, productivity and creativity. Flow is the STATE where you feel in control, you have clarity of thought and perform at your best. It also allows others around you to perform with more confidence and at higher levels.

Some things to consider!?

  • START with YOU!
  • Stay Present – reflect and (re) act later
  • Be mindful of what triggers you (Things that challenge your Comfort Zone & sub- conscious habits)
  • Explore – Learn your way – be curious and try NEW approaches to improving both mindset and mindfulness
  • Change your language, use - Yes, and ….

However, or rather… than NO!

????????????????????? or … how does that work for you; do you have another solution?

  • The key is to empower people…ask relevant and well-structured questions, then ZIP It …. and listen! Take the pressure off yourself to find all the answers (solutions) and make all the decisions.

Mindfulness is a process of being aware of your emotional and physical responses and how it impacts our decisions and behaviours. E.g. Anger is a strong emotion. However, it’s YOUR emotion, you own it, its draining, it sucks energy and generally also impacts those around you.

If the above resonates, it’s time for a circuit breaker and a change of STATE. Here’s some things you can be doing to improve and change your state!

1.????? Slow down (filter various options / consequences)

2.????? Practice Breathe work (Box Breathing 5X5X5X5)

3.????? Meditate daily

4.????? Be aware of your VOICE – projection and tone

5.????? Be aware of your Body language…don’t be overpowering!

6.????? Take time out – do something for you everyday

7.????? Start and maintain a regular exercise routine (Physical Activity)

8.????? Try practicing gratitude

9.????? Identify and acknowledge all the good things people (family and work colleagues) are doing for you

10. Consciously choose how you SHOW Up everyday

  • Identify ways you can enable people around you to become a better version of yourself.
  • Invest 45 tom 60 minutes in yourself everyday
  • Create both a TO BE list and a to do list and act upon them every day.
  • Ensure you fuel your mind and soul…through good nutrition, sufficient hydration, and rest
  • Practice selflessness, timelessness, effortlessness; and richness will be your reward.
