Understanding Evangelicals: A Guide to Jesusland

Understanding Evangelicals: A Guide to Jesusland

In our postmodernist world of relativism where everything is subjective and debatable it can be difficult to discern truth. For many, truth has become a relative concept causing Christians who believe in indisputable right and wrong to appear dogmatic, puritanical and unrealistic. But none of these labels should cause us to shrink from our God given responsibility; which is to defend the truth as laid out in the Holy Bible, the collection of scriptures that govern our existence.

When I first wrote Understanding Evangelicals nine (9) years ago it was with the intention of enlightening interested persons on the doctrine that governs our lives as evangelicals in an attempt to foster understanding and appreciation. It was also meant to share the truth with those who are confused or lost, as well as to strengthen the resolve of all members of the body of Christ in a time when everywhere around us liberalism and postmodernism threaten to undermine what we believe.

Now more than ever, what we believe as evangelicals has come under attack. The pro-choice movement fueled by Feminism has taken the issue of murder and made it more about the woman and less about the child, causing many to lose sight of the real issue – the fact that abortion is a complete a disregard for the commandment, “Thou shall not kill.” And the most recent Supreme Court ruling that has legitimized same sex marriage is yet another in a long line of assaults against the doctrine of Christ as laid down by The Holy Bible.

But what do we do in the face of all this? At a time like this when so many of the issues I tackled in Understanding Evangelicals almost a decade ago continue to be relevant and even more so now, we as evangelicals have a responsibility to educate ourselves and those around us on the doctrine of Christ. We must look to the Bible for answers as postmodernism tries to convince us that they exist elsewhere and will always vary depending on who we are.

At the heart of Understanding Evangelicals was a desire for people to understand who we are and what we stand for, because so much of what is perceived about us is inaccurate and fueled by political agendas that insist on portraying us as crazy and irrational. It is my hope that a reading of this book with provide some truth for those who are confused about the issues of the day.

In a desire to spread the word as far and wide as is possible I have decided to reduce the price of Understanding Evangelicals for a limited time. This reduction will see the paperback edition going from $13.99 to $6.99. When you purchase the paperback you will also receive a complementary Kindle copy. The new price for the Kindle copy of the book will be $0.99, down from $2.99.

It is my earnest hope that you will use this opportunity to get your copy of Understanding Evangelicals and dive in to acquire an accurate understanding of who we are, what we stand for, and why Bible based Christianity the right way to live. If you are an Evangelical, I hope that a reading of Understanding Evangelicals will restore your faith, provide strength and renew your conviction as we continue to lead lives of holiness and submission to God!

The Hebrew word translated "kill" is actually "murder" which is why the more modern translations use murder. I cover that in my book.
