Understanding the Concept of E-E-A-T. How does it Work for Website Ranking Improvement?

Google has made significant changes to its Quality Rater Guidelines (QRG) for search.

As you know, page quality plays a significant role in where a page ranks in Google organic search results. Quality raters are real people who determine how well Google’s search results meet users’ needs based on the Search Quality Rater Guidelines.?In the guidelines, Google states that the most important factors used to determine a web page’s overall quality are.?

  1. Experience.
  2. Expertise.
  3. Authoritativeness.
  4. Trustworthiness.?

EEAT stands for Experience, Expertise, Authority, and Trustworthiness, and it's a concept that Google uses to evaluate the quality of content on websites. Google wants to provide its users with the most relevant, accurate, and trustworthy information, and EEAT helps the algorithm identify which websites and content are most likely to do so.

Experience:

Consider the extent to which the content creator has the necessary first-hand or life experience for the topic. Many types of pages are trustworthy and achieve their purpose well when created by people with a wealth of personal experience. For example, which would you trust: a product review from someone who has personally used the product or a "review" by someone who has not?

Expertise:

Google wants to ensure that the content on a website is created by experts who have the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to provide accurate information. For example, medical information should come from a reputable medical expert rather than someone who isn't trained in the field.

Authority:

Google wants to know that the website and its authors have a good reputation and are respected in their field. This can be demonstrated through things like awards, publications, and citations.

Trustworthiness:

Google wants to ensure that the website is reliable and trustworthy. This can be demonstrated through things like privacy policies, contact information, and positive reviews from users.

How Does EEAT Affect Website Ranking?

Google's algorithm uses EEAT as one of many factors to determine the relevance and quality of content on a website. Websites with higher EEAT scores tend to rank higher in search results because Google assumes that content created by experts with authority and trustworthiness is more likely to be relevant and helpful to users.

For example, if a user searches for "best diet for weight loss," Google wants to show websites that have content created by a nutrition expert with a good reputation and trustworthiness. Websites that have these characteristics are more likely to have higher EEAT scores and therefore rank higher in search results.

How Can You Improve Your Website's EEAT Score?

To improve your website's EEAT score, you should focus on creating high-quality content that is created by experts in your field. Additionally, you should ensure that your website has a good reputation and is trustworthy.

Here are some tips for improving your EEAT score:

  • Create high-quality content that provides accurate and useful information
  • Include author credentials, such as degrees and certifications
  • Provide contact information so users can reach out to you with questions or concerns
  • Include privacy policies and terms of service
  • Encourage positive reviews from users
  • Build backlinks from other reputable websites in your field
  • By focusing on these strategies, you can improve your website's EEAT score and increase your chances of ranking higher in search results.
