Understanding the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS): A Key to Canada’s Express Entry

If you want to get Express Entry to Canada, you need to know about the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The CRS is a point-based method that the IRCC uses to rank people who want to live in Canada permanently. It determines who is eligible to apply for permanent residence, which is why newcomers must be aware of it.

In 2023, Canada gave out 110,266 Express Entry PR ITAs. The Immigration Levels Plan 2024–26 anticipates accepting 110,000 more applications in 2024, resulting in intense competition. People who want to move to Canada may have better chances of getting an ITA if they have a favorable CRS score.

Who Can Get a CRS Score? People who are applying for Express Entry through the FSWP, FSTP, or CEC must follow the CRS. Once a candidate joins the group, their CRS score determines their selection. IRCC chooses the best people for ITAs who meet or beat the cutoff.

How Are CRS Points Calculated?

The CRS looks at prospects based on four main factors:

  • Core Human Capital: Core human capital includes things like age, schooling, language skills (English or French), and work experience in Canada. Individuals testing alone receive 500 points, while those testing with a spouse receive 460 points plus an additional 40 points for their partner's skills.
  • Skills Transferability: This section examines the combination of skills and experiences. You get extra points if you have Canadian experience or high-level English skills from college or university. You can get up to 100 points here.
  • Additional Factors: Having Canadian relatives, being able to speak French well, going to school in Canada, having a job that is organized, and getting nominated by your province all earn points. A total of 600 points are earned, and a commitment is made to ITA.
  • Spouse/Partner Factors: Language skills, schooling, and work experience in Canada can earn points for spouses or common-law partners.

Strategies to Boost Your CRS Score

Candidates can improve their CRS scores by focusing on things like language skills, college degrees, and work experience. It can make a difference if you speak French, have work experience, or have a Canadian license. You can't change your age. It doesn't matter if you speak French, have work experience, or hold a Canadian license. A candidate's image might rise if they get a job offer or a nomination from their province.

Your CRS score plays a significant role in the acceptance of your Express Entry PR application in Canada. Paying attention to the things you can change will help you get a higher score and become a permanent member of Canada.
