Understanding Business Performance
So many of us are in business because it’s a way to do what we love, make a positive impact in the world, and be free to make the living we want as we create our own schedule.
Hopefully this describes your day to day reality, but too often one or all of these areas are out of balance and ask use to make a shift to stay on course.
With our focus on daily activities in the business, we can sometimes lose sight of what matters most. It’s that we are the decision maker and visionary leading it forward.
So what happens when the head visionary and decision maker feels stuck in the trenches, and bogged down by the everyday running of the business?
This is when plans start to stay in our head, rather than getting properly planned out and executed. The latter allows us to feel clear-headed and in momentum with our business efforts.
It’s when employees become frustrated and complacent because they feel leaderless and disconnected from an inspiring core mission of the company.
And it’s when decisions are made and plans executed without a deeper understanding of how success will be measured.
The first step in knowing how well your business is doing is to identify these metrics.
This goes beyond simple financial numbers. It gets into the level of connection you have with your clients - future, present, and past.. honestly in that order.
When was the last time you measured your level of consistent connection to future clients, for example?
Do you know where to begin to measure this beyond telling me when you last posted on your Instagram or Facebook page?
If you’re starting to see the real depth to which you could be making informed decisions and plans in your business, this is a great thing. Easily trackable metrics allow us to see reality at our fingertips, rather than blindly following half-baked plans and re-directs as we desperately seek to create some incoming waves to our business.
Let’s see where you could feel more clear, on-point and in control of your future. Comment Eco below to explore.
