As Azure is a subscription-based service and you pay based on the usage of the resources that you have in Azure. But some resources don't cost you anything in Azure and others that require a lot.
Basically,
- You don't have pay for anything that is used to manage other Azure objects.
- You will have to pay for anything that is used to compute or calculate or store content or store files.
Cost Management and Billing portal
On the Sidebar if you click on Cost Management and Billing.
And here you can select the billing scope to see an overview of your billing for your subscription.
So here you see that my subscription is a "Free Trial."
There you can see a history of your invoices, payment method and a link for you raise a support request in case of any issues with your Microsoft Azure Subscription.
Now what's important to understand about at Azure costing is that your clock is always ticking. So If you have any resources that you've used for storing files, that are providing networking access, that is providing compute resources, or virtual machines, basically anything that is running in Azure, even if you forget about it and you don't actually do anything with it, it is increasing your monthly bill.
So maintaining an uninterrupted view and monitoring your billing is an essential task of an Azure administrator.
