As a result of the increasing death rates Asbestos Awareness was born. The need for those likely to come into contact with asbestos (not just those removing it) was identified and suitable training courses were created.

WHY IS ASBESTOS SUCH A HAZARD?

Asbestos was a very common material used right up until the ban date in 1999 and is often known as the "Hidden Killer". This is because many of us live, work and travel through properties containing asbestos every day without realizing it is there.

The problem is even more critical when people are physically disturbing or damaging the material and being exposed to larger levels of fibres.

EDUCATION IS THE KEY TO RAISING ASBESTOS AWARENESS

Asbestos Audit Ltd offers a high quality UKATA accredited asbestos awareness course. Our asbestos awareness courses are aimed at all manner of site-based personnel who are likely or have the potential to come into contact with asbestos-containing materials.

Asbestos Audit Ltd are a UKATA approved training provider for Asbestos Awareness Training (CAT A). Our training aims to raise awareness of asbestos and reduce the risk of accidental disturbance which could go on to cause serious illness in anyone affected.

We offer the following courses at our venue or at your site;

UKATA Approved Asbestos Awareness Training

• (3-4 Hours) - Cat A - For anyone who is likely to come into contact with asbestos or works in a trade that may come into contact with asbestos.
• The course teaches the basic requirements for staying safe on site and at work from hazardous of asbestos containing materials.

UKATA and Standard Asbestos Awareness Refresher Course

• Cat A - If you already have asbestos awareness training in place we offer refresher courses for all levels of knowledge. The trainer will assess your requirements and ensure you have the right training to keep you safe on site.

Asbestos Tool Box Site Specific Talks (an addition to the above course for specific site requirements and client needs)

• On Site Tool Box Talks (Dependent on Project) - If you have asbestos on site and contractors working on or near the asbestos we offer a range of tool box talks to assist with site based health and safety alongside dispersing information to the workforce from an independent viewpoint. We can assist with dispute resolution and auditing for site based personnel.
• After the initial training session, refreshers should be carried out annually to ensure staff remain compliant. You’ll receive a UKATA training certificate within 24 hours of passing your course and our asbestos experts are always on hand to answer any questions you may have.

It does not however allow you to remove asbestos - Removal of asbestos requires a separate more advanced training course.

The only way to identify for certain if a product contains Asbestos is to sample the material and have it tested in an accredited lab.
