The current global scenario - ravages from geopolitical conflicts the recent pandemic, climatic upheavals, economic uncertainties, technological disruptions such as AI, etc. - can baffle us, but we can learn from the ocean and grow more Self-aware.
We all have seen a sea or an ocean, but have we really seen it as is suggested here?
The entire ocean is mainly in two forms but both are essentially the same waters:
1. The surface form is waves - tumultuous, noisy, playful, rising and falling, clashing with each other and breaking apart...
That is the creation: God in a manifested, delusive, material form (Maya). Our bodies and all the changes that happen in and around our physical forms are like those waves. We are born, like the rising waves; we die like the falling waves, and we clash as the waves do. We laugh and cry, and make a noise.
2. Deep down under the ocean, however, are miles and miles of tranquil depths. Not a single wave is there. Even a mighty whale does not cause a ripple. It is all quiet.
- That is God unaffected by the creation's turmoil. Each soul, each of us, is part of that One God. He is behind all that is or ever will be.
The surface waves or the depths - both are the oceanic waters. It is similarly God everywhere - within creation or beyond it. It is consciousness everywhere - embodied or formless.

Now it is up to us whether we identify ourselves as parts of the ever-changing surface waves, and moan the flux, or we realize that we are parts of the never-changing, deathless, serene depths, and stay blissful!
The current global scenario is a storm that can only work on the surface, it can only kick the waves here and there but can never reach the depths! We suffer because we identify ourselves with the wave forms and we forget that even shattered and dispersed waves still remain in the bosom of the same ocean, only to rise again... until finally submerged in the underlying quiet depths.
We have bodies, but are souls. We appear as waves but are actually the same waters as the serene depths supporting them - we are ever-new, we are ever-living, we are Consciousness - we are Sat-Chit-Anand - forget destroying, who can even touch us once we take our shelter in that illumined awareness? We are seeing within a mind-boggling Cosmic Dream of God, our own little egoistic dreams. As long as we identify ourselves with the dream, we shall remain affected by it.
So should we stop caring?: No, not at all. It is fine to take care, to wear masks, keep distances, and boost immunity with herbals, to earn money and save it, to spread peace and harmony, etc., but such CARE must be without FEAR! Fear comes from ignorance of our real nature and attachment to the perishable body and its relationships. Fear reduces our coping skills and, as my Master put it, 'fear attracts what we fear'.
We do NOT have to understand and manage the situation; we just have to understand and manage ourselves. That's what these global events come to teach us, after all, and until we learn and transform, it may keep re-visiting us in one form or the other.
To sum up, we must do our dutiful role-play but remain anchored within. We must be, that is, "Calmly Active & Actively Calm".
