Understanding The A.C.C.R.E.D.I.T.E.D Framework ??

In this edition of The CPD Group Newsletter, we’re going to be focusing on the importance of our A.C.C.R.E.D.I.T.E.D Framework, and providing a brief overview of each element of the Framework to give you an idea of what we look for when we assess your CPD courses.

Why do we publish our A.C.C.R.E.D.I.T.E.D. Framework?

As the Most Trusted Accreditation Service in the UK, we’re transparent about the way our CPD Accreditation operates to make the process easier for training providers. Not only this, but it allows learners to see what the courses they are enrolling on have been assessed against.

This helps to build trust with learners, as they have evidence that your course is of the highest standard, measured against a robust, comprehensive Framework.

So... what does A.C.C.R.E.D.I.T.E.D stand for?

1. Accessibility

The first pillar of our framework emphasises accessibility within training courses. We believe that great training should be available to all, including those with additional learning needs. As a training provider, it’s vital to implement measures to ensure inclusivity and promote an engaging learning experience for all. This involves clearly communicating the support available and making it easy for learners to understand how you can accommodate their needs.

2. Content ??

Content is the heart of any training course… it is what makes up your learning materials and communicates your learning objectives to the learner. We meticulously review all materials, from PowerPoints and tutor notes to assessment questions and learning materials, whether they are in manual form or online.

Our goal is to ensure that the content is comprehensive, accurate, and up to our CPD standards.

4. Relevant ?

Ensuring that your course content aligns with the intended learning outcomes is crucial. We scrutinise how you present your course to the public, including your use of websites and social media. It’s important that your promotional materials accurately reflect the course content and learning outcomes, so as not to mislead learners into enrolling on a course that may not be intended for them.

Eligibility helps learners know if a course is right for them

5. Eligibility ??

Clearly defining the prerequisites for enrolling in your course helps attract the right audience and ensures that it is relevant for them. Whether it's a specific level of prior training, a professional qualification, or other requirements, communicating these prerequisites upfront ensures that learners know what to expect and can make informed decisions.

This guarantees that the certificates awarded reflect the learners' true understanding and mastery of the subject covered in the CPD course or activity.

The letter E for Expertise
Expertise ensures that the course has been authored by someone with the relevant credentials and experience

9. Expertise ??

The expertise of course authors is another critical component we take into consideration. We require proof of qualifications and experience to confirm that the individuals that authored the course are credible and knowledgeable in their fields. This assurance of expertise enhances the credibility of the course itself.

10. Duration ?

The final component of the framework is duration. We assess how long it typically takes a learner to complete your course and then assign Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits accordingly. In the UK, one hour of study is equivalent to one CPD credit. This standard helps learners understand the time commitment required and the value of the course and helps them to accurately track and quantify the amount of CPD learning completed.
