Did you ever try to understand yourself a bit deeper? Did you ever explore how your body behaves, reflects, reacts, or simply what is the structural frame of your physical being?
Understanding our body helps us to develop a better sink with our mindset. Our brain’s functions are completely dependent on the body as a medium to gather information from the surroundings. Our nervous system is connected to a giant network of nerves & fibers which work in perfect synergy to turn data into action. Obviously, understanding your physical body helps you to develop better synergy between the data collector (body) and data processor (brain).
Let’s try out this simple activity over the weekends to understand ourselves better.
- Sit comfortably with your backbone upright & straight and allow your mind to settle in peace slowly and slowly..
- For the next 2 minutes, allow your attention to your breathing pattern. Avoid being judgmental & controlling your breathing pace. Let it flow naturally.
- Now, when you are relaxed and in sink with your body, bring your attention to the top of your head. Watch the skull & thoughts flowing beneath it into your mind. Move down to your forehead, eyebrows, eyelids, nose & cheeks, lips, chin, and now look at your head as a whole system. Let’s be here for 30-45 seconds.
- Scan your body down from neck through backbone to anus covering lungs, heart, ribs, stomach, down to your genital area. Now, shift your attention to your shoulders, upper arm, elbow, forearm, wrist, hands up to nails. Allow your attention to realize your body from neck to waist as a whole system. Stay here for 1-2 minutes.?
- Slowly you move your attention down from waist to buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, lower legs, ankles, up to toes. Now, try to realize your physical being and structural features of your body as a whole in unison. Take your time to realize this beautiful most complex machinery in the universe.
- Towards the end, bring your attention to your surroundings back, feel the surface beneath, noise around, air & sensational movement, etc. Slowly, return to your normal activity.
This is a simple activity which can help realize your true nature and your behaviors in the long run. You can try the experiments related to microplastics to improve upon them later after sufficient practice. Our body is the best gift of nature, let’s put this minimal effort into enhancing our awareness about it.
