Understand the power of Unity in life

Unity means being or staying together. That means helping and supporting each other in any situation. Being together is the key to build a good and strong society and relationships. Unity is important at every step in our life. People, who learn the importance of staying united, their life will be happy in every step of life. Those people who do not understand its importance will face difficulties at different stages in life. People who stay united together are never left alone in any trouble.

Imagine this scenario. Billions of individuals, each with their own unique personalities and opinions, each with their own ideas on how the world should work, existing on the same planet, constantly having conflicts due to opposing ideologies. Welcome to the Human race.Following this logic, our society should be a warzone, with no agreements being made and nothing done. Cooperation would become impossible. Yet, we get by. Why? Simple. We have learned Unity.

Unity is what we call coming together and joining as one cohesive whole. Unity allows us to achieve something not by ourselves, but with the power of, quite literally, hundreds, maybe thousands of people, all with something new to contribute. Wait a minute. How can this be? Everyone is different, after all. True, but we can Unite because we are able to find something in common in others, and see a little part of ourselves in them. A common goal, a common identity......all this is the cornerstone of cooperation between people.

But what about people who are completely different? The people we call "weird", or "strange", basically people that think in some other way we do not understand? Is Unity possible with them? Of course. If anything, Unity between different people is better. You cannot expect to only work together with people similar to you. That is rather easy. The difficult part is working with people that seem like complete strangers to us, like aliens. In the end, though, it actually works better.

If you learn to work with others of different skills and thinking, then what happens? You build on each other. Conflicting ideologies come up with new ones, skills are shared, things you have always assumed as the truth are tested, and new perspectives spring forth. The worlds you live in get much, much bigger, and the box you always defined everything in opens to show you more.

Take Singapore for instance. 50 years ago, it was a tiny island, a Nation which was just beginning to take the first steps as in independent Nation. It had no natural resources, limited land, and people from all walks of life, from different countries with different cultures, ideas, and backgrounds. Yet, Singapore has built itself into a self-sustainable modern metropolis, with high standards of living and a harmonious society. They had virtually no resources at all, but one. The greatest, yet frequently underestimated asset of all. They had the People, and their hopes and dreams.

The People, all from different backgrounds and races, united as one to work towards a common goal: their desire for a better life in Singapore. They made Singapore into a multi-racial, multicultural, diverse society where everyone could work together for the good of the nation, and had an equal say. Unity allows us to accomplish great things that we could never do on our own. It lets us combine our strengths to do something amazing. The greatest Unity, however, is not formed because it is formed despite so many differences.

Let us start with a few important words in terms of unity. These are: Understanding. One ideology. One mindset. Equal rights. Understanding: When you understand others thoughts, issues, problems, their reasons, their strengths. Ideology: Of course you know that when we talk about people and their interests, their life style we need to bring the word ideology in between. One mindset: After having people with one ideology it's not difficult to make one mindset. Equal rights : It doesn't mean we give same work to every single person, it means we give rights to people on the basis of how much they can do. We all agree that unity is important because nature wants us to unite.

By uniting with each other, we enter into balance with nature and awaken a positive force dwelling in nature to surface among us. We then feel positive phenomena fill our lives: happiness, confidence, peace and harmony. On the contrary, by making no motion toward unity, our egos grow unabated, and we let division and hatred separate us more and more. Accordingly, we experience increasing negative phenomena in our lives, i.e., suffering on personal, social, ecological and global scales.

Moreover, it is important that our unity is above all divisions, and not merely the unity of one group against another. The latter is simply a group-inflated ego that serves to increase division and hatred in society, and which also leads to no ultimately positive outcome. Therefore, the importance of unity is the importance of our very survival, and whether we live our lives harmoniously or painfully. Establishing the importance of unity in society requires regular education and examples of unity above division. There thus needs to be a shift in the kinds of messaging and examples that we receive through mass media, the television, radio and the Internet.

If we receive inputs from all these information sources that exemplify the importance and benefits of unity, collaboration and cooperation—people working together to unite above their divisive drives—then we will all start feeling that unity is important, and our attitudes to each other will become calibrated in that direction. Currently, however, such information sources are abundant with divisive messaging, and we thus see myriad negative outcomes in society.

If we are united then our strength is multiplied and if we are standing alone then our strength is limited to us only. As earlier it is said - United we stand and divided we fall. No one will be there to pick us if we will fall; there will be more cheating and less help, profits will increase but humanity will decrease.
