Understand motor torque constant (Kt) of UAV BLDC Motor
The motor torque constant (Kt) is a measure of the relationship between the torque output of a brushless DC motor (BLDC) and the current flowing through it. It is typically measured in units of newton-meters per ampere (Nm/A) or ounce-inches per ampere (oz-in/A). The Kt of a BLDC motor is determined by the number of windings in the stator, the number of magnets in the rotor, and the size and shape of the magnets.
In selecting a BLDC motor for a UAV, the Kt value is an important factor to consider as it directly affects the ability of the motor to generate torque and, in turn, the ability of the UAV to carry payloads or perform certain maneuvers.
A higher Kt value means that the motor can generate more torque for a given current, which is desirable for applications that require high-torque operation, such as UAVs carrying heavy payloads or performing maneuvers that require a lot of power.
However, it's not the only factor that should be taken into account as other parameters like speed, current, power and weight of the motor also play a critical role in the selection process. For example, a UAV with high-speed requirement will require a motor with high Kv value. Therefore, it's important to consider the specific requirements of the UAV application and match them with the appropriate BLDC motor, taking into account the Kt value along with other parameters.

In summary, the motor torque constant (Kt) is an important parameter to consider when selecting a BLDC motor for a UAV, as it determines the amount of torque that the motor can produce. However, it should be considered along with other parameters such as speed, current, power and weight of the motor in order to select the appropriate motor for the specific UAV application.
