An attribute commonly found in successful people is the ability to think big.?
It’s fundamental to developing the right mindset and understanding what you are truly capable of achieving. It’s being bold enough to say what you really want and then planning and making it happen.
For some people, this is innate. For others, like me, it’s something that takes time and hard work. When I first began The Successful Adviser, I needed a vision that would give me a sense of purpose and direction. I needed inspiration to create an impact and legacy that I found worthwhile and that I could use to lead my team.?
For me, that needed to come from my own values and beliefs and finding a way of working that reflected this.
Thinking big isn’t about dreaming big dreams without filling in the details of how they’ll be achieved. Nor is it working so hard on the day-to-day detail and not examining where you are going and how you’re going to get there.?
It’s aspiration achieved through perspiration. You get to build a concrete reality of what you want from your business and your life.

Success is different for us all and chances are you’ll have a very personal and individual idea of what success is for you. This stage isn’t about thinking about how you’ll do this, it’s about exploring ideas and getting excited about possibilities.?
2. The second, inspiration is the fuel that moves you forward.
Understanding the “why” of what you’re doing is vital. It allows you to understand what motivates you and to develop momentum.
3. Use empowering language about yourself and your goals. Your thoughts become your reality. Remember, you are either the captive or the captain of your thoughts.?

4. Closely linked to this is developing indispensable qualities. These include characteristics such as courage and dealing with uncertainty. When these things are embraced on a consistent basis, they help define your character, your beliefs and the results you can achieve.
5. The last stage is modelling other people. In my experience, being aspirational and surrounding yourself with like-minded people is vital to success. Confidence and clarity are skills I’ve had to develop. I haven’t always seen what others have seen in me.
I’ve also developed skills and qualities I admire from being around aspirational people and modelling myself on parts of them. How can you know what success looks like if you don’t have others around who inspire you??
