THE UNDERRATED PART OF THE DRY DOCK

A challenging problem that can bring unwanted consequences if not done properly is DRY DOCK RIG POSITIONING, probably the most underrated part of all scope in the dry dock.

As BLOM Maritime, we are experts to support our clients in such demanding tasks thanks to our team of survey engineers, experts thanks to their experience in the Oil and Gas industry.

This task can be divided into two main stages:

1. Preparation of keel blocks
2. Rig positioning

Phase number 1 is based on plans delivered by our client SEMCO who provide us with all information about accuracy and time schedule according to information from the rig.

Based on the grid system established by our surveyors, we can process the keel block design and adapt it to the existing situation in the dry dock. All blocks need to be set up in the correct order based on cooperation with dry dock personnel. For an average project, 300+ blocks need to be positioned in about 3-4 days of work.

Phase number 2 covers the rig positioning, an operation that requires planning and cooperation with the Dry dock and Rig personnel. According to rig geometry and based on total station measurements, our survey engineers gradually coordinate the process of setting up the rig in the designed position.?

Thanks to Leica equipment and our expertise, we can set up the rig with demanded accuracy.

All process of positioning usually takes 2-3 days of work, with the full satisfaction of our several clients.
