Underhill Welcomes Susan Ray EIT, GIT

I am very pleased to announce the addition of Susan E. Ray, EIT, GIT as Staff Geotechnical Engineer to the firm. Susan is a native of Minnesota. 

Susan received her Bachelor of Science (Dual Major) in Civil and Geological Engineering with a Minor in Environmental Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology - Go Hardrockers! Susan’s certifications include Engineer in Training (EIT) and Geologist in Training (GIT) and American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Tester. 

Susan’s experience includes Subsurface Explorations, Geotechnical Analyses and Forensic Investigations, Soil and Concrete Testing, Management of Grouting Programs, and Mining and Mineral Resource Investigations, and Retaining Wall Designs. Her experience includes work in Minnesota, South Dakota, Texas, Wyoming, and now Virginia. Susan joined Underhill in May and is working with several of the firm’s clients in Charlottesville, Albemarle, Madison, and Culpeper.

Susan is an avid camper and hiker and, as a new Virginia resident, looks forward to exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains, wineries, and our extensive park system. Susan also enjoys spending her free time reading Stephen King novels and playing and exploring with her sidekick, Arlo.

Underhill Engineering, LLC (Underhill) is a geotechnical engineering firm and SWaM-certified Micro Business serving clients throughout Virginia. Located in Charlottesville, Underhill draws on more than 30 years of engineering experience in the Construction Industry providing services for both Public and Private clients. Underhill provides geotechnical engineering, geothermal energy solutions, and geotechnical-related construction phase services.

The firm's focus is assisting clients reduce risks related to the underground, allowing clients to meet scheduling, budget and performance goals, through a collaborative / partnership environment. With the addition of Susan, the firm grows to two engineers, allowing us to better meet our clients’ needs with the level of expertise and service that they deserve.
