An Under Reported Struggle

What is worse? Facebook Watch or LinkedIn Stories? Except for clips from Family Feud there is a lot of staged nonsense. I can't stand those videos where someone writes messages on poster board.

There was one where a panhandler was caught getting into her comparatively new vehicle. My liberalism ends with panhandlers. Seeing some on the same corners for years? They aren't necessarily down on their luck.

At work it is time for management to solicit us to give to The United Way. I would rather donate to United Airlines. There is return on investment therein. Expensive habits aside? Instead of giving to anonymous charities? So many in my life struggle day to day.

As I told my sister and her husband who both have high paying jobs? "Just because you make a lot of money does not mean you have a lot of money." Children are more expensive and in my day? It wasn't cheap raising children.

Day care did not cost more than state college. If I had children they would be enrolled in community college. They work hard to maintain the basics without keeping up with "The Joneses".

So many in my life struggle day to day. I would love to write checks to everyone struggling. If I were a billionaire? Space doesn't interest me. The prospect of being a money lender on a grander scale holds little allure.

That was another disappointment of my father. I wanted to give away my money instead of hoarding. You can't take it with you and I cannot subsidize others. Doesn't keep me from listening and understanding their plight.

It is not easy making ends meet. Stay out of debt as best you can. Support others who are willing to work and contribute. Giving to a panhandler will not help them. If you tip the valet or a server? They appreciate it more.

There is powerlessness in seeing loved ones in debt and/or out of work. Life feels better with consistent work. Even if no one is paid enough? A consistent job leads to a better perception.

There have been jobs where it seemed like the trigger was about to be pulled. Even if you aren't made redundant? You don't want to take vacation because the job may not be there upon return.

You cannot build on shaky ground. Move towards something more solid. Listen to others as they have struggles which are difficult to hide. The ones who work the hardest seem to have more roadblocks.

Hard work is the best course of action. Present yourself well and ultimately you succeed. Sometimes you put your pearls before swine. Others will appreciate your attributes. Gravitate towards them and keep going.
