Under The Hood With James Blomberg

Official Land Rover Retailer on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
Introducing James Blomberg, our Gold Coast Jaguar Land Rover Assistant Parts Manager
As our Assistant Parts Manager, James is the man with a plan and a part to solve your vehicle troubles. He’s been with us for almost three years but has been knee-deep in the world of parts for over 15 years.
Working alongside our Parts Manager, Nick, James splits his time between parts trade, panel and the workshop. The blend of admin, customer service and problem-solving is the ultimate combination for the solution-savvy manager.
“I love being able to solve problems. I enjoy being able to point customers in the right direction and get them back on the road. Each day is just about putting our experience to use and helping each customer to the best of our ability.”
James grew up in a family of car fanatics and quickly found a knack for working on his own classic cars. Now a family man himself, James has transformed his passion into a career with a brand he’s closely followed for over 15 years.
“I started with Land Rover as my gateway into working in automotive, but it was seeing what the vehicles could do on drive days that really got me falling in love with the brand. Back then, it was the Freelander 2’s and original Range Rover Sport, and seeing what they were capable of off-road pretty well sold me on Land Rover for good.”
A lot has changed since his introduction to the Land Rover world, but James says there are some things that remain consistent over the years.
“There is a lot more technology these days, and the models are far fancier and more comfortable. But they still have that off-road heritage, which is hard to go past.”
The evolution of the automotive industry over the past few decades has been exponential. As someone who spends each day dissecting the complexities of these machines, James appreciates the importance of staying in tune to the latest technology.
“I think that’s another thing that I’ve enjoyed with the role - there is a lot more training provided than there was back in the day. We get to travel around Australia, learning from the best in the business. It’s great to have the support and training there, as well as the support from the team around here.”
Despite having spent years among some of the most impressive models in Australian automotive, James doesn’t hesitate when it comes to his favourite model.
“I’d have to say the Defender. That’s probably one of the best cars I’ve driven. I’m waiting for the 130 to come out, I can’t wait to try that one out. Although if I allow myself to aspire for a little more luxury, it would have to be the F-type in the Jaguar.”
It comes as no surprise that when he’s not fiddling with parts, James can be found renovating, building, or finding fixes to anything around the house.
“I’m always busy building things or fixing things. When that’s not the case, the family and I like to get out camping for the weekend.”
As a Gold Coast local, James says there’s nothing that quite beats heading up to the Hinterland for an escape. If you’re lucky, you might catch him on an off-road adventure, heading on a hike or just taking in the scenery and peaceful reprieve on his weekends.
