Under Covid, how retails should survive
The Covid has been lasting for almost 2 years, I could see most of countries have been working so hard to fight with the virus, they stopped people moving domestically and internationally, as the consequence, the global economy has been kind of isolated to pieces and the domestic retail businesses becoming very tough too...
From manufacture side we can see, the materials costs are increased, the logistic costs are increased, but the local and international businesses sale scales been shrinking a lot.. Even the current business is so bad, but somehow lots of business owners have to increase the product pricing without many options...we can see how struggling lots of businesses are suffering... I would say, it is a global challenging, not just us..
The national politic policies with other countries, the international tourists and international students, play the key role for Australian retail businesses. I often hear the complaints from some business partners saying that, who is selling the products are so cheap. My point is that you don't have to sell that brand. If you don't have enough power to beat your competitors, and you can not change that situation, then choose different way to avoid the conflicts, and go your own direction. If you always sell what others sell, I don't think there is opportunity for your business. Always remember, every road leads to Rome, and there are hundreds of thousands brands you can choose to work with.
I suggest the retail business owners also need be proactive, you should not just stay in the store and wait for the clients. There are so many ways that you can increase your sales and push your business to be stronger:
1, create online business, sell to the global; a good online store can make a great business difference after 5 years;

2, use social media, make your own voice, such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, WeChat, SEO etc; actively promote products;
3, sell different products. You can not sell all of brands that your competitors all have, the small margin wont make you through the crisis, because the volume isn't there anymore. Some unique products with good quality and good margin. Remember you must be proactive! You cant passively wait for your clients, you need create your own different way!
4, create new sales channels, such as customer groups like on Facebook, promote and sell the products.
