What do you know about Unconscious Bias?
Unconscious bias in a simple way is prejudice in favor of or against something, some persons, or groups compared with another usually in a way that’s considered to be unfair.?
So the Unconscious bias is known as "implicit biases", and is defined as the underlying attitudes and stereotypes that people unconsciously attribute to another person or group of people that affect how they understand and engage with a person or group.
So we can notice the biases could be held by an individual, group, or institution and can have negative or positive consequences.
It is important to note that biases, conscious or unconscious, are not limited and, in general, the biases may exist toward any social group such as age categories, gender, physical abilities, religion, sexual orientation, political groups, and many other characteristics are subject to bias.
And we can be classified the types of biases into two important type
1- Conscious bias is also known as "explicit bias"
2- Unconscious bias is also known as "implicit bias"
because everyone holds beliefs about various social, and these biases stem from one’s tendency to organize social worlds by categorizing so?the social stereotypes about certain groups of people that individuals form outside their own conscious awareness are the main reasons for unconscious biases, unfortunately, unconscious bias is far more prevalent than conscious prejudice and often incompatible with one’s conscious values. Certain scenarios can activate unconscious attitudes and beliefs.?
