The world can be a beautiful place. The world can be a dark and harsh place. When you are in a position of leadership you will experience the intensity of these two realities more keenly than the average person.
When things are going well, you will be praised and celebrated and loved in more ways than you ever knew possible. Everyone and everything will get out of your way because you will be on the path of victory. You followers or employees will delight in following you. Business partners will flock to you with the best deals. You will be loved, respected and trusted, not just by others, but even by yourself. In such a time, you can never do wrong. You feel unstoppable and you will be unstoppable. When you look at yourself, you will feel a sense of joy, happiness, confidence and power and even to some degree, divine alignment.
However, as with anything else in life, things change. The very opposite reality will also come true. Sometimes things will not look so bright. There will be challenges and failures, sometimes happening one after the other in a way that puts so many obstacles in our paths, testing us to our limits and forcing the very essence of our being into submission. The world that once praised you will seek to break you in every way possible. People will look at you as a failure, no one will want anything to do with you. Doors that you think you would seek refuge from, you will find them getting closed. You may even begin to think of yourself as a failure, a fraud and a waste of time and space. You may even begin to doubt the aunthenticity of the successes you have experienced you success in your past and fall into some kind of depression.
I'm not saying its okay, but I am saying that it happens to all of us...

As with anything else in life, things will eventually change. They always do.
During dark times, the greatest challenge for most of people, whether in positions of leadership or not, is facing the person in the mirror and convincing him/her to leave their comfort zone and grow. To look on the bright side. Everywhere you look you are seeing darkness, closed and closing doors. how can you look on the bright side that does not exist. The greatest hell we will experience while we are alive is to look in that mirror and feel a sense of deep disgust and worthlessness. It's not easy.
We need to understand that the human spirit design is one that is animated by unconditional love and acceptance. Unconditional love and acceptance frees us to be ourselves, creators, lovers, poets, builders, architects, musicians and anything else our minds can conceive without hesitation or fear of anything. We know that we feel like that when the world is loving and accepting us, however, very often we forget that the unconditional love and acceptance that counts the most is the love and acceptance that we give ourselves.
We often unconconsciously agree with the world in its judgement of us. When the world loves us and is praising us. We also fall in love and feel worthy of the praise. But when it stops showing us love and giving praise, we also stop giving it to ourselves. Does that mean that we are no longer worthy of love acceptance and praise. Does that mean that we stop needing the love and acceptance that feeds our souls. No! It nourishes us. If we do not get we get spiritually, mentally, and emotionally starved. We all know the feeling of hunger. It is not pleasant.
Whether we are in good times or in bad times, we must continue having healthy unconditional love and acceptance of ourselves, knowing that failures are just events and not markers of personality and character of who we are.
At first its not easy to continue loving yourself in a world that may be telling you that you don't deserve it or have not earned it. Its not easy to continue respecting, trusting and unconditionally accepting yourself in a world that is outwardly trying to break you and yet, as a leader despite these fluctuations in sentiment, you still have to show up and fulfill the duties for which you had promised to carry out.
The world will always shift its opinions because of a million reasons, but your deep-rooted sense of self-worth, unconditional self-love & self-acceptance are the arming tools you will need to make sure that the world especially in its darkest days will not break you. Before the world shows and gives you love, love yourself first. Continue doing so even after it has stopped or changed its tune. Before the world accepts you. Accept yourself unconditionally first. The opinions of the world are filled with those reeling from their own fears and insecurities anyways. You will never be perfect enough to satify them, and even if you do, your foundation of happiness and sense of wellbeing will always be vulnerable to the new changes in new sentiment. Build your own sustainable foundation of mental, emotional and spiritual nourishment and you will find a lasting sense of clarity both in good and dark times.
