Uncompromised Growth News: March Newsletter ??
What's the African proverb about generating quality B2B leads?
Ah!
It takes a village.
We decided to gather the scoop from the team that worked on a recent case study.
Sekisui is a Japanese Chemical Manufacturing company that was able to secure 21 appointments in just four months, including 6 dream clients.
While we exceeded expectations, the journey to a $100 million dollar deal was full of twists and turns.
Get our teams' tips below.
Account Manager: Olha Yasnohor
“We were faced with some very difficult research challenges from the beginning. We were able to discuss and overcome them with the client and ended up taking an account-based approach or targeted campaign vs mass outreach. That’s what enabled us to book appointments with their dream clients.
Tips? Work on personalized messaging for particular (desirable dream clients) and always set clear expectations prior to campaign launch.”
SDR: Vita L.
“As an SDR on the project, one of the main challenges I faced was the rejection of many leads by the client due to their specific requirements. The client did not want to engage with the usual automotive companies, and battery manufacturers were only 50% suitable. The research team and AM had to work closely with the client to understand the reasons for the rejections and come up with a suitable solution. They finally agreed to focus on companies with headquarters in the USA but with offices in other parts of the world. After additional discussions with the research team and client, we were able to find the right targets and reduce the number of lead rejections.
Despite the challenges, the template used to communicate with prospects worked perfectly and most prospects were ready to have a call after receiving the first or second wave. However, additional follow-ups were necessary for some batches. Even with a unique ICP and narrow research focus, we succeeded in booking 25 meetings, including 6 with the client's dream companies; all from 800 accepted leads over 5+ months. The client was extremely pleased with the appointments and is on the verge of signing deals with three of these companies.
Weekly calls and email communication were crucial for me to handle the technical-specific questions from prospects; the client was extremely responsive and helpful along the way, which eased our work significantly.”
Lead Writer: Anastasiia Tarnavska
Challenges:
"First off, we didn't have a sufficient amount of leads to make standard send-outs since it was tricky to find automotive companies with EVs that might benefit from the safe thermal management solutions that Sekisui offers. Therefore, we couldn't predict how many appointments we would book within a contract.?
This challenge was overcome thanks to Hiro's help and understanding of the difficulty of conducting cold outreach in his niche. He didn't push us to any impossible numbers and helped us filter the lead's relevance and provided us with lead lists himself.?
As far as template writing challenges, it was hard to grasp such a technical topic. Moreover, the majority of decks describing Sekisui's product line were in Japanese. So Hiro had to translate them into English for me to start crafting emails.?
However, unlike more standard industries, there was room for creating interesting hooks, for example:
Did you know that EV combustion is difficult to put out and can continue to reignite for days after initially being extinguished? With Sekisui's thermal solutions, you can obtain 350 seconds to delay an EV explosion.
Finally, the client didn't make any changes to our template writing process per best practices. We had the freedom to deliver quality email copy without deterring from our core writing strategy and logic.
Why it eventually worked:
"Although the initial campaign did bring a few appointments, the real success was achieved through personalized messages.
Here, we divided our outreach in 2 directions: past clients and dream clients.
This approach worked for us really great, and we managed to book 4-6 apps steadily every month."
What made it different than any other campaign:
"To sum it all up, the client's trust in our outreach methods, personalized strategy, and alignment between our team and the client made a huge contribution to our overall success.”
