Uncharted Waters: An understatement of epic proportions?
Just when you think you’ve turned the corner you are hit with more bad news! We can agree that uncharted waters is never a great situation; but it seems like navigating by the stars is all well and good if you have a destination to head towards; now its a time of staying afloat and weathering the storm out at sea is the priority; even with hatches firmly battened; pumps at maximum; we still need a bucket to keep from sinking and we are not in the depths of winter yet! As individuals what can we do? As a businesses what can we do? As a country what can we do? As a species what can we do? Keep Calm and Carry On! Its all we can do; we have little choice but to; the announcements later this afternoon will go some way to plugging the gap but we are on the verge of a torrent if left unabated. Fatigue; separation anxiety, shielding, social distancing and face mask wearing is the best we can hope for but what’s the worst we can expect? It doesn’t bear thinking about; but maybe we should! If we are feeling fatigue now; what if the worst happens; hospitals overrun, morgues overflowing; a complete lockdown for longer is to be expected; if not welcomed? Never before have we faced such a challenge that is as indiscriminate as this; it attacks all races; all faiths; all genders; all ages; no one is immune; no one can guarantee that they cannot catch it more than once; no one can assume they won’t suffer long term side effects until we know more; the cost of knowing more is more infection, more casualties; and more deaths until a reliable pattern of behaviour emerges; we are learning more as each day passes; but until we can overcome it we have to hold fire; keep our powder dry and wait to hit back; and until such a time comes again we simply have to endure what is to come! Wishing all family, friends, colleagues and associates a safe week ahead and beyond x
