Uncertain Time Allocation

Uncertain Time Allocation

Happy Monday!

Starting life over at 40 has been a wild ride - moving across the country, publishing a book, and switching industries have all presented their own set of challenges and opportunities.?

But with each new and uncomfortable step, I can't help but ask myself:?

Am I spending my time on the right thing??

I’m working a lot.

But I can’t help but wonder if I’m working on the right things.?

I think this is a common dilemma - especially when working on something new.?

New uncertainty can lend itself to self-doubt.?

But the truth is, without taking action, that new endeavor has no chance for growth.

So when doubt creeps in, I turn to my checklist:?

  • Does this action take me one step closer to where I want to be?
  • Does this action align with my values and beliefs?
  • Does this action bring me joy??
  • Is this action a priority for this season of my life?
  • Is this action the most pressing action?
  • Does this action positively impact me and those I care about?
  • Does this action challenge me?
  • Does this action promote my personal or professional growth??

Usually, just answering one of these questions gives me clarity around the task at hand.?

Because the alternatives…

  • doing nothing,
  • avoiding,
  • making excuses,
  • blaming,
  • playing the victim,
  • or waiting for someone to save me?

- only lead to missed opportunities and regret.?

So the new question becomes:?uncertain action or certain stagnation??

Until next week,

Chad

P.S.?If you missed it last week, I wrote this big blog on loneliness. Full of interesting charts and graphs!?You can check that out here.

Impressive journey! The challenges and opportunities you've faced while starting afresh at 40 are commendable. It's natural to question your time investment, but trust your instincts and embrace the growth that comes with each step. Keep going!
