While brainstorming ideas for a newsletter, I just couldn’t seem to get over writer’s block. Honestly, I’m still going through it.?
But that’s the point here.?
The source of many people’s writer’s block is intaking so much information and media without actually experiencing it. The solution is to experience instead of merely being a witness.?
I have access to a nearly infinite supply of media on the same device that I’m using to type this. Even so, it seemed like I couldn't find something that I could relate to enough to write a newsletter about.?
And that’s okay for now.?
I want to get over it, though. So, in the coming days, weeks, months, my goal is to be more intentional. When responding in conversation, I’ll be more analytical. When watching YouTube videos or scrolling through TikTok, I’ll make connections.?
These are essential skills that can be applied to almost any situation, yet somewhere along the motions of every day, they sometimes weaken–like I’m experiencing right now. So I have to actively practice these skills to get back to my ideal self.?

For example, yesterday I watched a video about strange cryptids, just because. I don’t know, at the time it seemed interesting.?
But what do cryptids, or, modern mythical creatures, have to do with anything??
Absolutely nothing.?
Except that they’ve worked themselves into pop culture for some reason. The video I watched had 760k views. The video’s creator was able to target 760 thousand people. Now THAT’S relevant to my work. Aside from learning about the odd Wendigo in the Midwest U.S., the amount of views and how the video reached that many people was interesting to me.?
In conclusion, if you’re experiencing a block of thoughts, go beyond the point at hand to truly experience something.?
So, there you have it, a newsletter about getting over writer’s block. Problem solved!?

7 个月Good one - a newsletter on writer's block as the topic. I am trying to figure out what to post on LI today - hummmm.... A famous novelist (of course I can't remember which one) said if you write for a living, you don't have the luxury of writer's block.
