Unattainable Goals

As we enter 2024, many people think about New Year’s Resolutions.

Goals can be audacious or minor.

But what about knowingly setting goals which can never be attained.

Is it worth doing that, if only to see how close we can get to the goal?

For example, no matter what I do, there is zero chance that I am going to run in the 100m race at the Olympics.

But what if I use their time as my goal and see just how close I can get to that?

Or, perhaps, that’s simply a waste of effort because my mind “knows” it will never happen so I won’t work as hard?

There’s probably a whole science to how you can set the right goal for yourself that will both stretch you and keep you motivated.
