Unapologetic Focus

A lot of people say we don't care what other people think of us.

Heck, I say that.

But my social media behaviors say a different thing. I spend time scrolling for 'good content' to consume. I follow gurus and celebrities that interest me and align with my goals. And I have been known to lay in bed and scroll Instagram or YouTube stories for 2+ hours before bed.

And I think I found the problem - for me at least.

It's not that I pine over how many people read my posts or like my content or message me in the DMs.

It's that I go to other people's profiles for direction.

  • I look to their voice
  • and their direction
  • and their best practices
  • and their systems
  • and their results

BUT that makes me a fan most of the time. Not a better version of me.

Do you know what fan stands for?? FANATIC.

So I'm tired of being a fanatic of other people's goals. I'm tired of being a fan of their activity and actions.

I am now a FANATIC of my own calling.

And that requires courage. I have to be unapologetically focused on my world.

That's a little scary.

I won't be able to rely on others for inspiration and ideas. But I know I don't need that. Everything I need to help the people I care about is inside me.

Here is what that looks like for me. In the last 6 weeks I have made the following BIG changes permanently.

  1. I took social media off my phone (I'm quitting FB and IG and TikTok altogether)
  2. I have narrowed down who I work with in my coaching business
  3. I have finally found the eating plan that I can stick to long term
  4. I have created 3-4 small groups to help me in 3-4 major areas in my life
  5. I am only working 30 hours per week

All these choices were on purpose. They were deliberately chosen to support the things that are most valuable to me.

So my question to you is....

Are you willing to be unapologetically focused?

Here is some Simon Sinek wisdom on the subject:
