the UNafraid limited edition rug collection - Joy Ezeka x Airloom
My favourite collaboration so far - the NANDI rug!
Art inspired by Queen Nandi, mother of the great King Shaka of the Zulu nation.
Nandi whose name means ‘a woman of high esteem’, was humiliated and rejected by a lot of people (one of the reasons was getting pregnant out of wedlock), but despite all, she went through she remained resilient and strong. She knew her worth and instilled these values into her son, shaping him into one of the most prominent warrior kings the Zulu kingdom has ever had! She also taught her son to believe in the power of unity and the concept of ‘WE ARE ALL THE SAME’.??
Until today, Queen Nandi is seen as the symbol of the strong African woman who never lost faith and hope in life, believing that she had an extraordinary destiny.
You can get the beautiful Nandi rug in grey and also midnight blue.
The NANDI rug is from the UNafraid limited edition rug collection in collaboration with Airloom. You can view the rest of the colection in the link below.
Let me know what you think about the Nandi rug. Thank you!
