Goal #1
The first key goal of the United Nations Sustainability Agenda is to eradicate poverty worldwide. Over the past few decades, remarkable progress has been made in this fight, as countries across the globe have invested heavily in programs and policies aimed at reducing income inequality, increasing access to education and healthcare, and providing job opportunities to the underprivileged.
Despite these efforts, poverty remains a major problem in most parts of the world, particularly in developing countries. About 734 million people, or 9.2% of the global population, still live in extreme poverty, subsisting on less than £2.00/$1.90 a day.
The UN's first goal in eradicating poverty is to build sustainable livelihoods and ensure social protection systems and welfare for all. It calls for an integrated approach that addresses the underlying causes of poverty and focuses on sustainable development.
To achieve this goal, coordinated and sustained efforts are required from governments, the private sector, civil society, and individuals. Governments must invest in social protection programs, promote inclusive economic growth, provide access to quality health and education services, and improve the overall socio-economic conditions in their countries.
Similarly, the private sector can contribute significantly by creating employment opportunities, investing in poverty reduction programs, and adopting sustainable business practices that help to reduce poverty levels and inequalities.

At the individual level, every one of us can contribute to poverty eradication by supporting government policies and programs on poverty reduction, volunteering in community development work, donating to charitable causes, and being more conscious of our consumption patterns.
Conclusion
In conclusion, achieving the UN's first Sustainability Goal of eradicating poverty requires collective effort. We have come a long way in the fight against poverty, but there is more work to be done. It's 2024, soon to be 2025 let us join together as governments, private institutions and individuals to find sustainable solutions that help to build a more equitable, just, and equal world.
Everyone's efforts count!

From the simple self-obsessed 'it's just about Climate Change' to the 'Circular Economy' to the wholistic and pluralist view of it's really about the planet and all living organisms on it. My take on things is that individuals (if there's enough mass) can influence Governments which in turn set the rule of engagement for organisations which then inform the experience of individuals... Several Leading figures spring to mind: Gro Harlem Brundtland (former Prime Minister of Norway), Kate Raworth, Paul Hawken, and Vandana Shiva are some of the leading lights in this area.

It’s a complex topic that show responsibility rests on policy makers, governments and large corporations more than on individuals whose empowerment and impact are relatively limited, with the exception of overconsumption.
