The UN Global Compact: What it means for Clario

I am proud to announce that on behalf of Clario, I have signed a letter to the United Nations Secretary-General endorsing the United Nations (UN) Global Compact and committing to take immediate action to implement the compact’s Ten Principles.

The Global Compact challenges companies to create a more equitable and sustainable society. For Clario, this is a call for us to continue delivering on our purpose to transform lives by unlocking better evidence in clinical trials. We do this to reduce disease and improve the health of patients and their families. We do it because the people we love are counting on us.

Our purpose also impacts how we approach our corporate responsibilities. Joining the UN Global Compact is one of the most recent components of our robust Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) program, which also includes efforts to ease access to clinical trials for underserved populations (to help drive access to future medicines), reduce greenhouse gas emissions and take a stand on social issues. Now we take it one step further by aligning with other companies willing to use their influence to help others – to help us all.

One of the first principles we are addressing is eliminating discrimination in respect of employment and occupation. Clario is transparent about our aggressive goals for gender balance within leadership. Currently, the percentage of women at the director level and above is 36%. We are committed to achieving a minimum of 50% by 2024.
