Unemployed Parents With College Kids: Alternative To Overpriced E-Learning

Free Resume/Search Webinar: Register@ x.resumewebinar.com/Registration , I help you solve your toughest job search challenges, cutting 50K+ job searches in half. LinkedIn's most connected Career Coach (30K+ 40M).
What college student is excited about a year that will probably end up being only e-learning, if it's not already starting that way? Cooped up in their dorms/apartments, with no in-person classes, no football games and (gasp!) no parties?
And what parents are excited about paying full tuition for e-learning ... especially if you're unemployed?
How many of you would consider an alternative that would give your college kids a better experience, a leg up in their career, and more fun? I'll bet a lot of you would jump at the chance, if you knew about it.
What about a gap year? No, not sending them off to Europe - They can't get there, it wouldn't cut your costs, and wouldn't give most students a leg up in their career.
Instead, what about a gap year at a job that would give them some amazing real world experience - the kind of experience employers are dying for?
If only it were that easy, you're thinking. I can't find a job, and I've got tons of experience - So how's my inexperienced kid studying philosophy going to land a job?
Here's how and here's why this is a great year to consider a gap year for your college-age kids to find an internship:
Think startups, not Apple/Google/Facebook. Startup companies, including Silicon Valley startups are actively recruiting college students for remote internships. You already know your college student is smart, but they are also really inexpensive labor for startups who need to keep costs low to grow in this economy. For you this means no tuition, no room and board ... maybe also in-home supervision help for your K-12 kids studying from home, so you have time to search.
It's not just me saying this, it's Bloomberg. Plus, recruiting websites/newsletters are floating this idea to clients and HR departments as inexpensive solutions to labor needs.
And it's not only for IT students. Startups need smart interns in marketing, finance, customer service, sales, content creation, photography, design and many other areas. Your child could gain the very thing that over 80% of new college grads lack - Real world business experience (far better than a part time pizza delivery job).
Where can they start? Two places - This Y-Combinator list and your kid's college placement office (yours too). There's a good chance they've already gotten employer inquiries.
So consider giving your child the experience of helping build the next Facebook, rather than paying top dollar for a lower grade educational experience during the 2020-21 year. Added benefit - you won't have to worry about them getting sick.
If you're looking for great ideas about how to solve your own unemployment issues, Let me show you how to accelerate your job search, beat unemployment, and find your next job fast, even during this recession.
This is the 3rd recession I've recruited/coached through, so I've seen first hand what resume and job search strategies succeed during recessions. I've also seen mistakes candidates make, causing their recession job searches to fail. I've been through this before and know what works and what doesn't.
That's why numerous job seekers who work with me have already gotten job offers this March, April, May, June, July and August and September - every week since mid-March.
As a top national recruiter who reads hundreds of resumes per day, who has helped hundreds of thousands of candidates in their job search, and seen thousands of employers' job search processes from the inside, I've got a different perspective than most career coaches.
I see that most job seekers do essentially the same things, even when they think they are job searching differently. I also see most job seekers were taught search methods that eliminate them from consideration, because they conflict with the employer's hiring process.
But I've been teaching job seekers to overcome unemployment for 13+ years by using non-traditional resume/job search strategies that demonstrate impact rather than just being average. I'll show you how to beat unemployment (even if you're over 40 or have other job search challenges) and find a great job during the recession by understanding employers' point of view and hiring processes ... and using this understanding to beat your competition.
(I'm not just a career coach. I've also been a top national recruiter for the last 16+ years ... so you'll get advice from an insider's point of view.)
Let me show you what you can do now to change your job search and resume so you can find a great job during the recession, even if you're between jobs, over 40, trying to change careers or location, if your industry is in decline/consolidation, trying to overcome long term career gaps, family leave, find a remote job, turnaround your job search or other tough to solve job search problems.
