The Ultra High Potential of Ultra Low Energy Approaches: Partnering with DSP Group For Good!
Today, our valued partner for many years, DSP Group (DSPG), will be demonstrating our new fully managed DeviceTone IoT cloud and edge ULE gateway today through Wednesday at the Las Vegas Sands Convention Center.
We announced the availability of this very exciting new solution in a press release and are inspired by the many important use cases made possible through simplification through automation, sophistication through AI, and extensibility through an approach that makes it possible to add multiple sensors and scale.
Cloud of Things selected DSPG's ULE module for many good reasons, among the opportunity for solution and service providers to "land and expand" whether their deployments are in smart homes, smart offices, smart hospitals, schools, factories, and any indoor or outdoor space where security and energy management are valued.
ULE stands for Ultra-Low Energy and is a proven and reliable, low-power wireless technology whose technical specifications enable simple, reliable, and cost-effective networking for homes and other buildings.
ULE is the simplest and most affordable solution for residential and enterprise environments, and DSPG is a global leader with its ULE module.
Our joint solution supports unlimited use cases, including home automation, physical security including cameras and locks, climate control scenarios, and more in residential and enterprise environments.
ULE is popular given the installed base of DECT telephony and the rise of voice-activated connected space solutions, with multifunctional system implementations that invoke DECT voice capability running in parallel with data functions, giving voice-activated control systems extremely clear deployment cost savings through implementation simplicity.
ULE is a super-flexible technology that requires very little energy with node device power consumption easy to manage, including the sleep/awake ratio, dramatically extending battery life, depending on the specific sensor and actuator system requirements.
With our new fully managed IoT cloud and edge ULE gateway, part of our growing DeviceTone offering, we are bringing an affordable and "green" alternative to service providers, manufacturers, and system integrators.
Benefits in addition to its natural synergies with well-established DECT technology include:
·????????Excellent range in residential and business environments
·????????A protected interference-free frequency spectrum
·????????Simplified control network/device pairing features
·????????Capacity to handle a high density of nodes, without any need for a repeater
·????????Native voice and SMS communications protocols for voice-activated solutions and text notifications and alerts
·????????Guaranteed network security using AES-128 encryption
·????????OTA device software upgrade capabilities
DSPG's DHAN-M ULE module supports data and two-way voice and video, which in turn support the growing number of applications that connect things and people, and can be controlled through voice activation, while also supporting the "visual" IoT and emergency two-way conversations in applications such as security and home healthcare monitoring.???????
An enterprise-grade device, the CoT Smart IoT Gateway securely collects sensor and equipment data from the edge of the network for localized or cloud-based analysis, relying on ULE for reliable, interference-free, full-coverage wireless communications throughout the home or office.
The increased adoption of connected devices across the home, as well as the enterprise, has created a market pull for more reliable sensor-to-hub communications in what is becoming an increasingly noisy RF environment. In addition, under pressure to meet rapidly closing time-to-market windows, product developers are looking for faster deployment options.
"This combination of market trends and customer demand is why we are excited Cloud of Things chose our ULE solution as the wireless interface for the CoT IoT Gateway, and we look forward to demonstrating its capabilities at ISC West," said Tali Chen, Chief Business Officer (CBO) at DSP Group. "The reliable transmission of wireless data is essential if advanced IoT, machine learning, and artificial intelligence techniques are to reach their full potential at the edge, particularly for critical applications such as home healthcare and security," said Chen. "By incorporating our DHAN-M ULE module in its Gateway, Cloud of Things is making enormous strides in this direction."
Along with DSP Group's highly integrated, fully certified DHAN-M ULE module, the Gateway features a fanless design, uses an embedded OpenWRT OS, has a Secure U-Boot boot loader, fail-safe FOTA, and two Ethernet ports, as well as Wi-Fi connectivity, all in a box measuring 82 x 82 x 30 mm, and weighing only 220 grams.
Small is the new big!
For many years, both Cloud of Things and DSPG have been pioneers in reducing the physical and digital footprint for connected solutions, whether through small form factor, multipurpose gateways, or system on a chip (SOC) edge processing innovation.
Small costs are less to produce, ship, install, and manage, but only when small is combined with powerful and sustainable.
Just as smartphones got smaller and more convenient while becoming more powerful, the trend in IoT is towards devices that are small, ruggedized, affordable, and paired with software and security solutions with "Zero Trust" and "Zero Touch." With Cloud of Things' ULE Gateway and Cloud-Based Management system, solution providers can implement quickly, as our software automatically registers devices to the system, provisioning them in minutes, and providing management capabilities and extensive edge and cloud reporting and analytics.
According to DSPG, "ULE is the ideal radio standard for sensors and actuators, such as for use in smoke, movement, and temperature detectors, or in ventilation, air conditioning, and heating systems. As well as these applications, ULE also allows many other applications to be addressed and makes different business models possible.
