ULTIMATE SPIRITS CHALLENGE 2020

Why USC’s Innovative Methodology Matters To Your Spirits, Hard Seltzer and Mixer Brands

Imagine having your prized 20 year old Single Malt Scotch Whisky buried at the end of a long judging flight of 22 single malts. Imagine your spirits being hustled through judging panels that are lodged in a cramped, dimly lit hotel space because the organizer wants to limit their room rental fees. Or, imagine…a better, more thoughtful way!

To ensure that each spirits entry receives the fairest evaluation possible, ULTIMATE SPIRITS CHALLENGE’s strict policy, created by award-winning spirits authority F. PAUL PACULT, dictates that:

1) Each entry to USC gets analyzed by multiple judging panels to allow every opportunity for each spirit’s finer attributes to be highlighted more than once. No other competition goes this far!

2) Judging Director F. Paul Pacult keeps flights purposefully small (2 to 6 spirits) so that judges remain fresh and alert. Makes sense, right? No? Then try tasting 18 dark rums in one sitting.

3) To obtain the most precise and reliable results, spirits entries are flighted only with direct peers in age, place of origin, and category type.  No brainer, this…well at least for USC.

4) USC is conducted in the pristine environment of the UBC Evaluation Center in Hawthorne, NY. No other spirits competition cares enough to have its own brick-and-mortar facility.

5) To avoid creating palate fatigue and thereby unreliable scores, USC judges evaluate no more than 60 spirits per day. All other competitions unrealistically expect judges to sample from 100 to 125 spirits daily. Hey, cranky, overworked judges give accurate results, right? WROONNNGG!

6) All spirits are served at the proper serving temperature in appropriate glassware in order to allow the spirits to show their finest virtues. At USC, no detail is too small to make happen.

You better believe that methodology is vital to accurate results. So, why go anywhere but USC?

We accept all categories of distilled spirits; plus aperitifs; vermouths; pre-mixed cocktails; non-alcoholic mixers; hard/spiked seltzers, coffees, iced teas, etc. and sample bottles not yet in their finished packaging or with final label.
