The Ultimate Sacrifice…
?I’m not a big fan of action movies, or of Tom Cruise, however, a couple months ago, I was searching on the TV and watched the trailer of “The Mummy”, one of his latest productions. I have to admit it impressed me very much. The main action shown was a plane falling out of control, and he and the protagonist actress were bumping all over the place during the quick descending. The scene was magically done with zero gravity (I suppose) and incredible visual effects. But this wasn’t the thing that touched me the most. At some point the plane’s door was broke lose, and he was able to pull her close to him. In that moment, when the ground was nearing closer and closer, he triggered the parachute letting her escape safely. He took “the ultimate sacrifice.”
Of course, this is a movie. Regardless, after that I thought about the many people in real life that are making the same decision, either for a love one, an ideology or their countries.?
On the other hand, we’re currently seeing more and more acts of inexplicable violence in this country and around the world. Maybe, the people responsible for these terrible incidents believe they are doing the same sacrifice. Well, I’m not going to argue with that. I’m only going to say that there’s a big difference. One is an act of “hate”, and all the others are acts of “love”.
As a parent, I wish my kids never have to make this kind of hard decision in their life. But if for some circumstances they will, I hope it will be always for love!!
Anyway, after all…I think that Tom Cruise has a new fan.
