The Ultimate in Horror/Fantasy!
It's out! My latest novella, "The Hoodoo Kid." This isn't about zombies, vampires (sparkling or non-sparkling, whatever the hell that means), the apocalypse, possessed kids, or houses with a "secret." It's a simple but highly original story about a poor black boy from Louisiana whose dog hunts lost souls. Unfortunately, they've angered the Great Harvester and he concocts a plan to stop the pair, a plan that will destroy them and in the process warp time and space. It's Poe meets Huck Finn. Full of scary creatures (human or otherwise) and unforgettable scenes. And if ol' Uncle Elroy doesn't become one of your favorite literary characters, you've got issues!
Here's a sample:
As they moved nearer to the cemetery, Wendy began barking, making the spirits there materialize. Michael could hear their groaning and wailing from nearly fifty yards away. It was a sound he hated. He was determined to ignore them and as he walked past, he put his hands over his ears.
“Wasting your time, boy,” someone said. Michael jumped with fright. Mr. LeBlanc was almost standing on the trail. The boy was dumbfounded. The ghost had never been this far from the graveyard.
Wendy barked frantically. “Be quiet, girl. Just ignore him.” The dog stopped but continued growling.
“Heard you had some trouble in town today. Maybe you’ll keep your sorry butt out of there. George was right. Nobody wants you.”
