The Ultimate Firebreak

With all of the recent and current drought in our areas there has been an increase in wildfires. Just as recent as last week there was one that burned several hundred acres just a mile or so West of our ranch. When I got home the electricity was off and smoke was in abundance. We were blessed to have a brief rain shower to aid in the fire fighters efforts to corral and extinguish the fire which they were able to do and restore our electricity before dark. I remember from Texas history that American Indians were creative in shielding their settlements from the prairie fires that were common on the frontier. They protected their property by setting fire to the dry grass adjoining their encampments or in some cases it was noted the American Indians would burn the ground and areas a few days before setting up their settlements and camp grounds. You see, Fire cannot come where fire has already been, so the prairie flames and or wild fires died when they reached the blackened grass surrounding the Indians’ campgrounds. It was the precursor to what we know as a Firebreak or controlled burn. It is a realistic comparison of the life of Jesus. The threatened authorities thought the crucifixion of Jesus would extinguish his influence. But instead, at the Cross, Jesus established the ultimate Firebreak. Those who take their stand at the Cross are protected from flames of Satan and eternity in Hell. The cross where Jesus died for all who will choose to be covered under the blood , safe from the fire, Is recklessness to those who are go the way of the flesh and choosing darkness and self-servitude as their way of life. But to us who are saved and are being saved, it is the power of God that keeps us. As the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. Jesus put himself between us and Satan’s fires. If God makes us go through the fire, He will go through the fire with us. And sometimes, He will make His presence obvious; He may manifest Himself in supernatural ways that He does at no other time. The Bible tells me in Daniel 3 How God protects us from fire. Imagine how the three young men felt as they found themselves not consumed by the flames but walking around unharmed in the flames with the Son of God! How surreal! How incredible! Yes, God is their rock, their fortress, their deliverer, their God in whom they trust. Is there anything He cannot do? God is the same today as He was yesterday and will be for forever. Make it a great day for yourself and someone else as we live to love and share Jesus with others.

Daniel 3: 25

He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

1 Corinthians 1:30- 31

But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

1 John 3: 16

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
